Some info on second chance bank

If you happen to know, second chance bank is really a fresh system offered by various banks or financial institutes. So if you can not apply successfully for a standard bank account of bank or credit union, you can actually choose such variety of services. There are also other possibilities that you should can’t get a hold of a banking account because you have been on the list of Chexsystem. No matter what rationales you have, there are certainly other sorts of great options for you personally, that could be second chance checking!

In general, the application procedure for second chance checking is tremendously quick and easy. The banks may just require you are usually a US citizen which can be proved. The procedures usually takes several minutes, that can certainly be accepted immediately after your filling out the application table. And your checks together with credit cards comes in the mailings in a week.

Ther is no any credit checks required for a new second chance account. They know that you may have financial problems before, but there is no sense in dragging this process along still any further! In fact, once you apply, you can get approved instantly! It sounds so great! Is it?

What is the chexsystems and how it can prevent you from getting a checking account?

The ChexSystems provides deposit account verification services to its financial institution members to help them to identify checking account applicants that may have a history of poor account mishandling. Each item entered into the Chexsystems remains there for five years, unless the financial institution that filed the report requests its removal or Chexsystems becomes obligated to remove it under law. A negative chexsystems report can prevent you from opening up a checking or savings account in the United States.

According to the Fair and Accurate Credit Transaction Act or (FACTA), you are entitled to a free copy of your ChexSystems consumer report, by request, once every 12-month period. See Free ChexSystems Report to find out more about the chexsystems report and how it affects whether or not you can get approved for a new checking account. You can also order your free chexsystems report and learn how to dispute any errors that may be listed on it.

Second Chance Checking Accounts - Louisiana

There are several nationwide banks that will approve you for a second chance checking account while on the chexsystems and current information on how to receive your free chexsystems report which can be view and accessed here. However, many local banks offer promotions for people who have a negative chexsystems report. Below is a listing of banks in Louisiana, that we were told, are currently accepting new checking applications for individuals who are on the chexsystems.

Note: This list is to be used as a reference only and we cannot guarantee that you will be approved for a checking account while on the chexsystems. Please help us keep this list up to date by visiting chexsystems.info with bank in your area that accept people who are on the chexsystems, or whether or not you were approved for a checking account using the list below:

B&K Bank
Bank of Montgomery
Bank of Zachary
Carter Federal Credit Union
First Louisiana Bank
Peoples Bank of Louisiana

2nd chance checking account

What is 2nd chance checking account? Some might spell it as second chance checking account. Some might just use short form as 2nd chance checking account. No matter how it spell it does mean the same thing.Second chance checking accounts are bank accounts for customers who are listed in, or have been reported to, any recognized consumer checking history database like ChexSystems. By using methods like financial education and monitoring, financial institutions are able to lower their exposure to risks.

Almost all second chance checking accounts have some kind of restrictions on various account activities as well as the transactions that can be performed. One example of a restriction applied to these accounts is the denial of checkbooks.

However, most of the other features of normal checking accounts such as ATM withdrawals, online bill payments, and direct deposits are included.

Most of the banks, thrifts and credit unions use ChexSystems for the simple reason that its database is a great way for financial institutions to minimize risks. Once a person is placed in ChexSystems' database, he stays there for 5 years. It's almost impossible for anyone to get off their list.

Since ChexSystems does a poor job of assessing the quality of risk a customer might pose, the database contains many individuals who shouldn't be there in the first place. There are also wide disparities in the way banks use ChexSystems. Each bank sets its own parameters and criteria for defaulting customers.

A new program called Get Checking offers customers who can't get bank accounts the opportunity to open a checking account once again. Once the customer has passed the test, they'll be given a "parole" from ChexSystems' database and allowed to open an account once again.

The eligibility to open a second chance checking account differs from bank to bank. Some banks may require hefty opening deposits while others may require only token amounts.

A lot of banks have now relaxed their guidelines as far as opening second chance checking accounts are concerned. This is due to the realization that most customers have problems with their checking accounts due to lack of knowledge.

Some major banks have offered to provide second chance checking accounts to anyone found in the ChexSystems' list so long as the person has not committed any major, outright fraud.

Different between Chexsystems and Telecheck

There has been a lot of confusion between chexsystems and Telecheck. So, let us see the differences between chexsystems and Telecheck generally. For chexsystems, you stay in the file for 5 years. After which negative banking information come off your file, as no longer viewable by the banks.

While with Telecheck, you will remain in the systems definitely untill you actually pay off the outstanding check.
Basically people mix up with these two, Chexsystems and Telecheck.Hopefully this explain a little what is differences between these two.

Bank and Chexsystems query

money-tree-bankWhen a person applies for an account at a bank that uses Chexsystems and is denied, it shows up as an inquiry on your report. Too many inquiries on your report can cause Chexsystems to "flag" your account for suspicious activity. It is very important to know where you can and can not get an approval at prior to applying at a bank.

Too many denials can cause a bank that you might have been able to open an account at originally to deny you for these inquiries. Unfortunately this is a mistake that many people make when they first find out that they are reported to Chexsystems. Once they have been denied by a bank they tend to start applying just anywhere and everywhere only to be denied more.

This blog was created to help consumers who are searching for a second chance checking account avoid being ripped off and scammed when trying to get a bad credit checking account. The banks listed do not use ChexSystems or TeleCheck when opening a new account or they will not hold your ChexSystems listing against you. It also lists alternatives to checking accounts....

Here is more information from WikiAnswers contributors:

I was reported to chex system 2 months ago and I'm able to open a second chance Basic Checking account with Compass Bank. It is only $5/month and I get a Visa check card. Lots of banks are starting to offer these kinds of services, you just need to look around.
It is a very good way to restart your credit history. The other choice is to continue to pay high processing fees to paycheck cashing sites

All banks are linked through the chexsystem as far as I know. If the balance is still owed, you may not find anyone willing to open an account for you until it's paid off. I believe you will be in Chexsystem for five years, then your name will be removed.

There is hope. What you can do is write Chexsystem a letter stating your story. Depending on circumstances you may not be liable under the Fair Reporting Act.

Well, I just found out that under most state laws a credit union cannot decline anyone that meets their membership requirements. This means that if you have bad credit they cannot decline you, but they can restrict your services. But if you need a savings account and a place to cash a check then they can do it.

Second Chance Checking. Check availibility in your area, some banks do offer this program for those of us that have outstanding items with chex systems.
There are several online companies that provide help in finding a bank after you've been reported to ChexSystems.

I've been on chexsystems since 2001 and after numberous attempts it seemed hopeless for me to obtain a checking account. Turns out Wells Fargo offers "oppurtunity checking" which is targeted for people whow are on chexsystems, even if you still owe. There is a $12.00 monthly fee, and $2.00 credit if you get direct deposit. I'm so glad finally there is hope for people like me!

There are always loopholes. One is to go ahead and pay the bank what you owe. Then, have the bank send a letter stating this has been paid. Take it with you to the bank where you'd like to open a new account. First, give them your social and see if they go for it. If not, have the letter from your previous bank handy and be ready to put it on the table. Showing you've paid this off and walking in with confidence may just land you a new checking account.

Well I work for GuarantyBank in Wisconsin, and I can tell you that legaly nobody is going to open you a checking account if you have an outstanding balance. However many banks (mine included) do offer a get checking program that can help. Also Guaranty Bank is one of the few that will open an account if you have 1 or less Chex system reports, as long as you don't owe any money. We are in five states so you may be able to open an account at Guaranty Bank. As of 1-11-206 the deal for checking is, free checks for life, no monthly service charge, no min. balance, 25 dollar bonus dor dd. And many more, for the most part if you dont over draw you account it is completely free, and you wont spend a cent.

I live in Indianapolis, IN, I am in chex systems, i opened a bank, account but they won't give me a debit card until i have paid the previous bank....now that i have paid the bank, they are giving me the run a round about reporting my payment to chex system

99% of banks use Chexsystems. You are stuck in Chexsystems for 5 years from the date the bank put you in their system. We can help you.

I hesitate to answer this one because I don't want other people to abuse the only chance there is to get a checking account with an actual check book and atm card. After much research, I have found most second chance banks to be prepaid atm cards with monthly maintenance fees. I also found many services that charge for a list of banks that may or may not be up to date as a nonchexsystem bank. I even managed to open an account successfully with Charles Schwab online, they overlooked chexsystem, but the risk department eventually closed my account after reviewing one of my credit bureau reports which showed I had a delinquency, charge off, and collection. However, I am happy to have found that there's one company that cuts through all the chase with no run around.

Why do everyone needs a prepaid debit card?

Check cards and credit cards are great. They allow you to spend your money more easily, and also give more freedom to buy what they want and need without worrying about how much money you have a credit line as it were. However, there is something to be said for the prepaid debit card. It's a great money management tool, if you have other credit or debit card or not. The glory of the cards is that you can load only with the money you want to invest in an expense and then they will not risk spending more. You can also use to pay bills online, so your bank account information is not compromised.

Most web sites are very safe these days, but identity theft remains a problem. With so many businesses accept online payments for utilities and other bills, having a card with less risk of losing their purpose. Think of it this way. If you pay your electric bill online for $ 125, and someone hacks into the site or your computer and steal your information, you could risk losing everything in your checking account or have their credit card maximum out. This is a rare occurrence, but not to make you feel better put that money into a prepaid debit card and spend as you need? Then when the money is gone, if someone steals your information and try to use the card, you can simply cut and a new one, without loss of its financial situation.

Many people think that prepaid debit cards are reserved for those who can not obtain other cards or for neither? You are being taught that financial responsibility. The truth of the matter is that there are many uses for prepaid debit cards no matter who you are or why you use it, because there is something for everyone. When it first appeared, prepaid cards have high fees for loading money on them and maintaining certain balances. But now there are plenty to choose the cards that are completely free, including ATM withdrawals, and the addition of funds.

There are many credit cards that have been incorporated in programs to promote the card, so that when used properly and managed well, it helps your credit rating over time. That does not work as fast as a credit card, but better than nothing when you are limited in their options. In general, services of prepaid debit cards are great for anyone who wants more control over their money or need a way to spend wisely without carrying cash around too much.
